เนมิตกนาม · a name given from qualities
A name given according to the qualities of the thing named, rather than an arbitrary label — as the flavors sour, sweet, and salty cannot be seen or touched yet are named by the qualities we perceive in them. Pra Ajarn applies this to "Samma Arahang," the quality-given name of the Dhamma body: the one who practices well and rightly, practicing to be far from all defilements. He notes that the name-state is the quality, while the form-state is the shape that houses it — form and name are a pair. So when the name is uttered, he appears at the center of the body as the clear, radiant Buddha-image, his form, together with the qualities that are his name, both at once.
