There are two signs — either the aspiration visibly comes true, or, if the mind is refined enough, one feels a confident, satisfied sense in advance, like the feeling of being full after eating, without any doubt.
Someone asked: how can we know whether our merit is complete or not yet complete, so the monarch can fully carry out its role?
When we make an aspiration and build the causes to draw the sphere of or the sphere of wholesomeness into being, drawing in the pure energy — merit together with its refined treasures — until it is complete, there are two signs. First is actual accomplishment: what we aspired to comes to pass. Second: if the mind has reached a certain degree of refinement, we'll know in advance — the feeling arises first, a sense that it has already succeeded. It's like eating until full — we know we're full because the feeling of fullness appears. It's similar here. And then we no longer feel the need to keep going; once we know, we don't have to continue, because we're confident it's enough. We know it immediately, without any hesitation or doubt.
