After getting past a guardian yaksha couple and having a monkey help her unlock the cave that held the treasure, she found that Luang Pu's portion was by far the largest, sitting at the center — enough to truly build a temple and a practice center.
This story took place in the time of Khun Yai Thongsuk. She wanted to know whether Luang Pu Wat Paknam had been born with , and if so, how much — because it would be needed to build a temple and a meditation practice center.
Khun Yai Thongsuk sat in meditation and used her nyana to look into where the treasure was kept. Once she knew it was stored in a certain place, she still had to see it with her own eyes through nyana. Because the treasure existed in a subtle realm, she had to take her subtle body there to see it.
Searching for the Cave of Treasure
She asked the local guardian spirit where the mountain that held the treasure was. Once she learned its location, she went there — but found that a yaksha couple, husband and wife, were guarding it. While the wife brought food and water to her husband, Khun Yai Thongsuk secretly watched and saw the wife-yaksha ask her husband to go handle a certain matter for her. The husband-yaksha left to attend to it.
While the yaksha was away, Khun Yai Thongsuk went to the cave, only to find she did not know the code to open its mouth. She then noticed a group of monkeys wandering nearby and called one over to ask. The monkey told her how — reach in at this spot, then that spot — and following its instructions she found the opening mechanism and was able to move the stone sealing the cave. Khun Yai Thongsuk then entered the cave.
Luang Pu Wat Paknam's Treasure
Inside the cave was a great deal of stored treasure. Luang Pu Wat Paknam's treasure sat at the center, the largest of all — like an enormous jar. Everyone else's treasure was arranged in a circle around it, growing smaller and smaller toward the outer rings. Among them were the belongings of Chinese monks and Vietnamese monks as well.
When Khun Yai Thongsuk looked back at her own portion, she found it was only tiny — so small that she wondered how she could possibly manage to build a temple, let alone a meditation practice center, with such a small amount.
