It Is Different, Because the Sphere of Faith Toward the Grandmaster Arises

Certainly it's different. First, the sphere of the faith-factor, arising from faith toward the grandmaster, is established. But what matters is how much time is given, and how continuously. If at home one sits for an hour, before the grandmaster one sits for two — so look at the quantity of time. Quality is another matter; there are two things, quantity and quality, and both must be observed.

Each Period of Time Is a Land Contested by the Three Natural Forces

The inner world is linked to time; in each period the three natural forces stake their claims. If, cooperating with the wholesome, we can only claim some periods, some days, it shows things aren't yet settled — like a land still at war, contested back and forth. A land still at war has suffering and no peace. But if the wholesome wins it decisively and permanently, then whenever the time comes one can sit — which takes planning — and sitting is at ease, because it's been won, not endured in hardship.

Faith Toward the Grandmaster Raises the Quality

Sitting before the grandmaster, faith in him helps the sphere of faith draw in much energy, improving the quality. In everything we are the master; the grandmaster already helps all his students, keeping everyone at his center and refining them. Whether we sit at home or at the grandmaster's shrine, the grandmaster is already at his center. But the sphere of faith within us is what matters here: if faith increases, the faith-factor draws in more merit.
