Someone asked: how can one stay within system at all times, even while living an ordinary worldly life?
There are two key factors for abiding in the wholesome system. First, an environment conducive to the wholesome. Second, good companionship — both external and internal. How much the wholesome mind can be established depends on how supportive the environment is. When the environment isn't supportive, we must rely on good companionship: externally, friends, relatives, or acquaintances who themselves abide in the wholesome system; and internally, an inner good companion. When both factors are present, we're able to abide in the wholesome system. Abiding in the wholesome system means we can be guided rightly — it draws in merit, both in terms of merit itself and its treasures, and brings about purification and liberation, healing our impurities. The merit that flows in through this wholesome system works to purify and liberate us, reducing the proportion of and the neutral within us, and increasing the proportion of the wholesome — making it easier to connect with the inner knower, the empowered one within.
