Pra Ajarn explains that all three events are forms of "rebirth" in different senses, and their coinciding on the full moon of the sixth lunar month marks the most balanced point in the year's cycle — a moment when the wholesome and nibbana pour in merit with special intensity.

The team relayed a question: why is it that a skilled fortune-teller, knowing only someone's date of birth, can foretell the course of their life? And what is the significance of the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing into final nibbana all falling on the same day?

Pra Ajarn explained that one's date of birth genuinely has an effect on life. He recalled a story from the reign of a past Thai monarch who took a keen interest in astrology, and who had a person born at the exact same date and time as himself. When the king received a rare gift of a white elephant, it turned out that his counterpart born on the same day received a white cat on that very same day — showing that people born on the same day tend to share certain effects.

The Buddha himself had several such counterparts — Channa, the horse Kanthaka, and Princess Yasodhara — each of whose lives echoed his own in various ways. For instance, when he departed the palace to seek renunciation, Princess Yasodhara stopped adorning herself and adopted the same manner of dress and conduct she understood Prince Siddhattha to be observing. The horse Kanthaka, too, accompanied him on his departure.

As for why birth, enlightenment, and passing into final nibbana fall on the same day, Pra Ajarn explained that "birth" is being born in a physical body, "enlightenment" is being born in a body of , and "final nibbana" is being born into the realm of nibbana — all are forms of rebirth, simply in different senses. Their falling on the same day means they occupy the same position in the cycle of time: the full moon of the sixth lunar month, the exact midpoint between the start and end of the year — the most balanced point in that year's cycle, tilting toward neither extreme. It can be compared to the quality of equanimity, which is unmoved by either delight or aversion.

This point of balance is a mechanism of the natural system, with Dhamma and nibbana as the backdrop overseeing it to keep it perfectly calibrated. This is why every Buddha throughout history is born, attains enlightenment, and passes into final nibbana on this brightest, most balanced day of the same annual cycle — because it is the moment when the wholesome and nibbana pour in merit with special intensity for each of these pivotal events.
