ความหมายDefinitionจิต · cittaจิตเปรียบเหมือนนักแสดงที่ "รู้แจ้ง" ว่ากำลังอยู่ในภพหรือบทบาทใด เช่นเมื่ออยู่บ้านก็รู้แจ้งว่าตนกำลังรับบทเป็นพ่อแม่หรือลูก ส่วนเจตสิกคือความรู้สึกนึกคิดที่นักแสดงถ่ายทอดออกมาตามบทบาทนั้น ฝ่ายกุศลจะเลือก "ดวงจิต" ของกายในกายมาช่วยในการเจริญภาวนา และดวงจิตนี้จะถูกพัฒนาให้ละเอียดขึ้นตามลำดับกาย ตั้งแต่กายมนุษย์ละเอียดไปจนถึงกายพรหมMind (จิต) can be pictured through the image of an actor: citta is what "knows" — the awareness that recognizes which realm or role it currently occupies, the way an actor at home fully inhabits the role of parent or child. Cetasika (เจตสิก), by contrast, is the feeling and thought the actor expresses while playing that role. The wholesome nature "selects" a citta belonging to one of the inner bodies to assist meditation practice, and that citta is refined step by step as the inner body itself is refined — from the refined human body up through the Brahma body.
